Reasons why I joined the SPJ team.
Mistakes are better than missed takes.
you'll lose nothing in trying.
Joining the Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) team was quite a scary but since some of my classmates also want to join SPJ, I was feeling confident especially that I have a background in journalism competition when I was in grade 6 having won 1st place SciTech Writing Filipino-District Level Elementary and being an Area School Press Conference Qualifier.
The main reason of me joining the SPJ is for achievements, competing when I was on G6 and winning made me so happy especially the medal I got and also the experience, I love it. I want to continue having more and more achievements and I already started it by joining our School Publication being a part of it for 1 year already.
Literature
In my early days in school my writing skills were bad, having times where I can't read my own handwriting, and when I heard "Journalism'' it meant for me as writing and I want to make my writing skills better. Also I have experienced hard time in understanding a vast amount of words since elementary and being here in the SPJ program for 1 here only, I felt the change in my literature in writing articles, essays, paragraphs, and sentences.
Knowledge
From my classmates, I have learned that the students in SPJ program were smart and I wanted to be smart too because when I was in grade 6, I felt a potential of me in becoming smart.
Advancement
Since elementary, I have been a part of special program, Sped in grade 1-6, and I've been used to being special and not normal. So it irritates me to learn with regular students, but I'm not downing them.
Being a passive learner in my early days, I wanted to feel how it's like being in the top of the class and people asking for my help but now I sometimes don't like getting asked for help cause I have a hard time explaining things.
T rying something new is sometimes a good thing or a bad thing, It's up to you to decide if it's good or bad. Remember that trying good things will not harm you in any way.
